A. If I remember correctly, yes. It uses your number but can only send it other WhatsApp users.

Q. I know it's available in the android market but I have android 1.5 (Motorola DEXT) and I can't find it. Is there anyway to maybe download it on the internet then put it on my phone? Or I may be searching the wrong thing...? Either waay... Is there any way to download it on Android 1.5?
A. WhatsApp for Android requires Android 2.1 or later.
Unfortunately, Android 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 are not supported.
